WANTED: Account Director
Curious is entering a new, exciting phase that will allow us to recognise the potential we have to grow our already well-established business. We are proud of the work we do for our clients – in fact we are known for it. As we look to capitalise on the opportunities ahead of us, we need to build a strong and creatively driven management team to lead the agency forward. We are now looking for a key member of this team – an Account Director – to join us and take on our ambitious vision for the agency.
You’re probably a very successful and purpose-driven Account Director who loves organising projects and people – building relationships whilst always having your eye on protecting costs and timings.
The day job
As an Account Director at Curious, you will be responsible for managing client relationships and projects across a number of accounts as well as directing the Account / Project Management team who will report to you.
You’ll need to develop strong and profitable relationships with clients and have excellent organisational and communication skills.
You’re going to be in charge of projects and you’ll need to lead and drive them.
It will be your responsibility, alongside the Account / Project Management team to ensure that projects are delivered successfully on time and on budget.
You won’t feel afraid of challenging – clients as well as creative solutions that you don’t think fit the brief. That will only make the work we do better.
Your job is to make things happen – elegantly but effectively – via you and the wider Curious team.
Specifically, you will:
Know your client businesses inside out; understanding the competition, the issues and the trends.
Develop excellent relationships with the client and the client’s wider marketing team.
Work closely and successfully with the client to demonstrate clear strategic thinking for achieving a client’s business objectives.
Draw on the wider agency team to ensure the agency provides the best possible solutions for a piece of business. Lead and manage the workload and goals of the Account / Project Management team, keeping them focussed and motivated.
Look for and help secure new revenue streams on existing business.
Alongside the Account Management team, manage the income on a piece of business, ensuring monthly income is met, future income is forecasted, and that documentation is kept up to date.
Manage the profitability on a piece of business and come up with proactive solutions to improve it.
Work with Strategy to interrogate client briefs, by challenging and asking questions.
Work with Strategy to ensure creative briefs meet business needs in an effective and accountable way.
Work closely with the Strategy and Creative departments to produce great creative work, taking a prominent role in ‘wips’ to ensure we produce the best possible creative solutions.
Have a great working knowledge of on and offline production and work with Project Management / Production to produce great work.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills – be able to write a presentation and present it effectively.
Establish successful relationships with other agencies working on the client business to share learning and best practice.
Look for ways to promote the agency through PR and awards.
Contribute effectively and imaginatively to new business drives.
Second, the Company job
As part of the management team, you will work alongside the Managing Director, Executive Creative Director, Communications Creative Director and Digital Creative Director to run the business.
This team is accountable for delivering the agency vision as set out by the leadership team. Each member owns a separate pillar of the company to manage. Heading up the Account Management pillar, you will be accountable for the overall success of this part of the business, ensuring that it runs smoothly and plays its part in helping the overall growth of the business.
Last, but definitely not least, you as a person
As we look to grow Curious in this new phase, we are placing a huge amount of importance on the people and talent we bring with us. Choosing who joins our team isn’t something we’ll be taking lightly. We have spent a lot of time over the last year refining what it means to be Curious, culminating in developing our Company Values which feed directly into how we work and act with our clients and each other. This, along with our vision for the agency, will continually guide us forwards and shape how we grow.
In order to achieve this, we’re on the hunt for true talent. Not the kind of people who just clock in and clock out every day. But the ones who wake up and know what gets them out of bed every morning. They’ve got fire in their bellies. We need every single person who joins us to be ready for what we know we can achieve. We’ve got big plans. But we’ve also got a brilliant product that we’re ready to shout about. Our plan isn’t complicated. All we want to do is the best work possible, for the best clients possible, with the best people possible. Simple.
Curious about Curious?
Of course, we’re open to any questions you have about us. We feel sure you’ll have lots. To pre-empt a few…we’re a small, tight team and we genuinely love what we do. The more interesting/complex/creative the better. We care about creating an environment that brings out the best in people. We’re naturally curious – everyone here likes to question what’s possible, which could explain why we attract wonderful projects, of all shapes, sizes and flavours, from all over the world.
